About Me
Hi, I’m Rick Murphy, an integrative psychotherapist based in Northampton, specialising in couples and family therapy. I work with partners and families who want to strengthen their relationships, improve communication, and understand each other more deeply.

I believe that every meaningful change begins within safe, trusting relationships — and therapy provides exactly that kind of space. My approach is grounded in person-centred practice, tailored to your unique needs as a couple or family. From that foundation, I integrate psychodynamic, systemic, and cognitive-behavioural approaches to help you explore patterns, emotions, and behaviours that may be causing conflict or distance.

Over the years, I’ve developed a particular strength in helping people who struggle to express emotions or connect openly — often because those skills weren’t encouraged in early family life. I also support couples facing challenges around communication, trust, and emotional intimacy, as well as families dealing with stress, anger, anxiety, or recurring conflict.

Whether you’re navigating a difficult period, recovering from a rupture, or simply wanting to build healthier patterns together, I offer a calm and non-judgemental space where each person can be heard and understood. My goal is to help you move toward greater empathy, balance, and connection within your relationships.

If you’re ready to explore how therapy could help you and your loved ones, I’d be glad to meet and discuss what you need.
